AI (Artificial Intelligence) can be a useful tool in so many ways. However, if you do not setup guardrails and AI governance, things can go wrong rather quickly. Shadow AI in particular has become a major headache for Cybersecurity. Use of personal AI agents by employees, particularly the free plans out on the internet has a potential of data leak. This practice can expose private sensitive corporate data to the public. Worst yet, it can be sent to the dark web.
AI Governance is critical for any organization or business. A corporate cybersecurity policy should include AI and Data Governance. The use of least privilege should be applied to any AI Agent much like you would for any employee. Employees must be educated on what is allowed for corporate use. Audit logs should be in place to ensure traceability of AI projects.
